Morgan Mutakela, a small-scale farmer in the Simalaha Community Conservancy, show the progress of his cassava harvest. Peace Parks has been working closely with people living here in southwestern Zambia to introduce nature-friendly farming techniques and equipment such as treadle pumps that allow for farming all year round. This includes providing training, seeds and even access to plant doctors who can tend to sick crops. These initiatives greatly increase food security for farmers like Morgan and their families.
