Forest fires are never the product of a single stressor. Heatwaves, dried-out organic fuel, land-use change and the spread of highly flammable mono-plantations (such as pine and eucalyptus) all compound one another, making wildfire a genuinely complex challenge – one that involves risk, uncertainty, multiple stakeholders, and intervention at very different scales.
